AMANDA WELLS performs at ALLEN MILLER ARTS, Music Friday Aug 19, 6-9 pm
Singer/Songwriter Amanda Wells released her first professional album, “Ebb and Flow” in October 2010. Her first childhood guitar was pulled from a dumpster at the construction site where her dad worked. With that guitar she began to teach herself how to play and sing, learning from anyone who shared her passion for music. Later she attended PA College of Art & Design for several years and is now a respected and sought-after performer in the Lancaster area. Allen Miller Arts is honored to present Amanda Wells, hosted by “Streetbeets” who will also perform, on Music Friday, August 19, 6-9 pm. The evening is free of charge. Refreshments will be available.

Wendy and Dave Wesselhoft performed "She Talks to Angels" and other moving numbers at the ALLEN MILLER ARTS "Open Mic Art Night," Friday, April 15th, 2011, in front of a backdrop of paintings by Kevin Miller. The event was a big success and will now be offered every First and Third Friday, 6-9 pm at the gallery: 117 E Chestnut St, Lancaster, PA 17602. - Electrifying Lancaster poet Aaron Adair performed several of his major poems from memory at the ALLEN MILLER ARTS “Open Mic Art Night” Friday, April 15th. Afterward, MC Kevin Miller told the crowd, “I have had the privilege in my life of being in the same room three times with the great poet Allen Ginsberg. Hearing Aaron perform his fine poetry has given me the same feeling I used to get when listening to Ginsberg.”

- Our youngest performer, Viviana Arnold, 2 1/2 years old, captivated the audience with her riveting rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” and her own unique arrangement of “The Alphabet Song.” She is supported here by her mom, Jen Arnold, and accompanied by guitarist Dave Wesselhoft, against a backdrop of paintings by Kevin Miller.
The evening was alive with the compelling performances of many vibrant young Lancaster area poets, musicians, artists and a very pregnant and energetic dancer/comedienne! MC Kevin Miller said that he had not felt anything like the electricity in the gallery that night, since gatherings of poets, musicians and artists in coffee houses, bars and church basements in the 1960s. “Something important started here tonight. We can build on this,” he added. Indeed when the mic was finally turned off at 9:30, people did not seem to want to leave. Many stayed to talk and have one more glass of wine before the lights were finally turned out at 10:30. Performers asked ALLEN MILLER ARTS gallery owners, Robert Allen and Kevin Miller to hold the event two nights each month rather than just one. So here it is:

At the end of the program, Robert Allen and Kevin Miller unveiled the two paintings and gave them to the library to start the institution’s permanent art collection. (See above and below.) The Grand Opening of Allen Miller Arts at 117 E Chestnut (at Duke,) Lancaster, PA, is planned for April Fools’ Weekend, the 1st and 2nd. Allen and Miller readily admit to being total fools for art, and are painting like madmen to prepare for the event, which will be a fundraiser for the Manheim Township Public Library throughout the month of April.
